Retro fever has broken out in NRW’s major cities: more and more people are out and about on wheels – across all lifestyles and age groups. Skating was long regarded as the epitome of a rebellious teenage subculture. However, the subculture of the 80s and 90s is now on the move. The generation between 40 and 50 has rediscovered the passion of its youth. The old-school skaters are returning to the skate parks with their own children. And who would have guessed that inline skates would one day have competition from their own ancestors? Disco rollers are back and with them the typical roller discos of the 80s. Our roller revival tells the big and small stories of a moving subculture. A sport that is also a lifestyle – full of creativity, commitment and friendship.
