In May 1945, the guns finally fell silent in Europe. Germany had been defeated, France was subsequently declared a victorious power. Thanks to de Gaulle. The neighbours settled into the French zone of occupation, and they even introduced a mini Eiffel Tower to Berlin. The order of the day: never again should there be war! Almost two decades after the end of World War Two, de Gaulle and Adenauer met on friendly terms.
