Solidarity is often described as the glue that holds society together. Its presence becomes visible through donations, volunteer work, and acts of everyday kindness – anywhere people support each other. However, there is a growing sense amongst many that social cohesion is becoming more fragile. So what is the state of solidarity today? From historical, scientific, and religious perspectives, they explore what constitutes solidarity and why it is indispensable for society.
