In the remote sports school on the outskirts of Leipzig, the East German soccer players are preparing for their decisive World Cup qualifying match against Austria. While watching TV, they unexpectedly witness a historic moment in German history: the Berlin Wall falls. Without hesitation, Reiner Calmund forms a task force to track down the best soccer players from the East and bring them to Bayer Leverkusen at all costs.
