There are 227 inhabited Greek islands, many of which have no doctors. Many islanders cannot afford the cost of visiting a doctor on the mainland. Fortunately, there are “floating doctors” who close their practices in Athens, board a ferry in Piraeus, and visit the remote Aegean islands to help the people there. We accompany the mission to the autumnal Cycladic island of Serifos, where a temporary hospital is being set up with two trucks full of high-tech medical equipment. What kind of people and what kind of fates await the team of doctors?
