Erosion, drought, nutrient deficiency – Germany’s soils suffer from their intensive use and the long-term consequences are not even foreseeable. Science has therefore long since developed methods to produce food without soil. But can we really do without it? What functions does it still perform in our lives? And what are the consequences if we do not take care of it?
