plan b: When the water comes – solutions for extreme weather

The effects of climate change are omnipresent. Extreme weather events such as heavy rain, storm surges, and flooding threaten coastlines, inland areas, and agricultural land worldwide. Visionaries who tirelessly search for solutions show that we are not helplessly at the mercy of the forces of nature. In our film, we accompany architect Mohammed Rezwan, who, with his floating schools and gardens, shows how over 75,000 people in Bangladesh have learned to live with the monsoon floods. On the North Sea coast, we meet engineer Oliver Lojek and a team from the University of Braunschweig who are researching the power of beach grass to protect our coasts. With engineer Rocco Buchta, we visit Europe’s largest river renaturation project on the Lower Havel. And expert Philipp Gerhard shows how regenerative agriculture with agroforestry stores water and strengthens soils.
