Re: Blood Feuds in Albania (WT)

In northern Albania, a centuries-old customary law continues to have an impact to this day: the Kanun.
According to its rules, the guilt for a murder does not end with a prison sentence. Often, entire families find themselves caught in a cycle of fear, deadly retaliation, and social isolation. This report follows mediator Dede Shullani as he works to reconcile feuding families. But in his current case, the parties have been irreconcilably at odds for years. The widow of the murdered man continues to refuse reconciliation to this day. Thus, the blood feud remains in effect.
