Alexander Gerst is the first German commander to fly to the International Space Station on June 6th 2018. Terra X accompanied him in the preparations for his mission “Horizons”. The second voyage to the ISS is both a challenge and a heart’s desire for him. “It is a dream of mine,” says the astronaut, “to look further out and bring light into the darkness. What else is out there?” Equally important to him is the knowledge about our earth itself. “When you’re in space, you realise that the Earth is a miracle”. In the first episode of a 3-part Terra X series, Alexander Gerst presents his very special view of our home planet. And he explores the question of whether there could be a second habitable Earth somewhere in the universe.
