If there is one historical place in Berlin or Potsdam where you can escape from everyday life, then it is Sanssouci Palace and its gardens. Anyone entering the ensemble can immerse themselves in the cultural heritage of the Prussians beyond architectural treasures, paintings, marble and bronze figures and perfect parks. The film shows how the complete work of art that is Sanssouci is connected everywhere with Frederick the Great, how he conceived it and supervised the construction work down to the last detail. With Sanssouci, he freed himself from his strict father. With Voltaire and an intellectual circle, Frederick celebrated the Age of Enlightenment at his own court as an absolutist ruler. The ensemble of Sanssouci with its parks is considered a highlight of the “Friderician Rococo” and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
