With more than five million inhabitants, the Ruhr region is the largest metropolitan area in Germany. It extends from Duisburg in the southwest to Hamm in the northeast. There are a total of 53 cities and communities in the Ruhr region – all of them are only a few kilometers apart. The first episode of our two-part documentary series shows the economic prospects of the once proud industrial region, and the second episode deals with the way of life in this melting pot.
