A disparaging look, an insult or the question of “actual origin”: racism has many faces. People of color experience this as church employees outside, but also within their own institution. Behind this is a 500-year-old historical construct that dates back to colonial times, to the missionary era in the global South. Rarely are black people given leadership positions, instead they increasingly appear on famine posters or collection campaigns. This is set to change. The film accompanies those affected who want to counteract institutional and individual discrimination and open up a space for togetherness. In doing so, they also question their own missionary tradition, which has produced various forms of discrimination to this day, and take action against racist attacks in society.
