Half of Spain is hidden from view. Here, time seems to stand still and civilization even recedes in many places. Its remains lie dormant. Nature, on the other hand, is making room for itself again. Wild animals such as the lynx are returning and wandering between numerous magnificent castles and cultural treasures of the former empire. Monumental landscapes with rugged cliffs and deep gorges of dramatic beauty and endless hills with oak forests form corridors for migratory birds. Few people live in this changed heart of the country, but they have exciting stories.
