We are currently witnessing and participating in a stress test of the human community. The effect that the coronavirus is developing is global, but has unforeseen consequences. Society is being put into a state of shock, partly because people in Europe, for example, have forgotten the experience of such disasters. What patterns do people develop during the crisis? Many have thrown themselves into ruthless consumption, people are even fighting over flour and toilet paper at the supermarket checkout. Others call for reflection, retreat into their own four walls or into small communities. The governments of many states have decreed the isolation of their citizens, curfews have been imposed. The number of victims is becoming more important than stock market prices.
It sounds like something out of a dystopian novel, but suddenly it has become reality. What is certain is that we are dealing with a rare event, but one that is already having a major impact on our lives. Are we standing on the brink of a new era? What new opportunities are opening up because of the crisis – will they teach us anything? The film shows the images of the crisis, but also the places that express how everyday life is being shut down.
