Foreignness is a feeling that many people are familiar with. And it is a term that is used in politics. Foreignness can be unsettling, but it can also arouse curiosity. Sometimes it gives rise to fear, sometimes to new encounters. At Munich Airport, a place of constant comings and goings, Lesch and Schwartz ask: What makes someone or something foreign? How does our perception of belonging work? And how can prejudices be overcome? In their conversation, they combine neuroscientific studies with biblical commandments, philosophical thoughts with everyday observations – and show how trust can grow from being a stranger.
