The effects of climate change are omnipresent. Extreme weather events such as heavy rainfall and flooding are increasingly devastating entire regions. Sea levels are rising and threatening the livelihoods of millions of people. The fact that we are not helplessly at the mercy of the forces of nature is shown by visionaries who are tirelessly searching for solutions to counter the danger posed by water. In our film, we therefore accompany scientists such as Mohammed Rezwan, who uses his floating schools to show how people in Bangladesh have learned to live with regular flooding. In St. Peter-Ording, we meet a team from the University of Braunschweig who are looking for solutions to protect our coasts from rising sea levels. And with engineer Rocco Buchta, we are up close and personal with Europe’s largest river restoration project, which will not only turn the Lower Havel back into a natural paradise, but also shows how we can even use the effects of extreme weather to our advantage.
