Is a high-tech, complex society really better equipped to cope in the event of a disaster? Today, science provides us with an insight into what goes on in the interior of the Earth. Seismic monitoring, aerial observations und chemical analyses are supposed to tell us if renewed volcanic activity is imminent. But it’s still impossible to predict an eruption. All we can do is prepare ourselves in time for what awaits us when these giants awaken from their year-long slumber.
