Half of Spain is unknown. In many places, time seems to stand still here. Evidence of civilization is hidden or lies dormant. Nature, on the other hand, is reclaiming its space. Wild animals such as the lynx are returning and roaming between the magnificent castles and cultural treasures of the former empire. Monumental landscapes with rugged cliffs and deep gorges of dramatic beauty and endless plains with oak forests form corridors for migratory birds. Few people live in this transformed heart of the country, but they have exciting stories to tell.
