Terra X: Paths of knowledge

Episode 2: From Córdoba to Cambridge

While the knowledge of antiquity was lost in the Christian West, it was preserved and further developed by scholars from the East during the Middle Ages. Andalusia experienced a “Golden Age” under Arab rule, with Muslims, Christians, and Jews working together to advance science. With the reconquest of Spain, Europe gained access to this knowledge—the foundation for the scientific revolution. Harald Lesch traces its long history from Córdoba to Cambridge.
