Terra X: Paths of knowledge

Episode 1: From Miletus to Cairo

It all begins in Mesopotamia: Sumerians and Babylonians lay the foundations for all science with their observations of the heavens. But it is the ancient Greeks who first attempt to explain the laws of nature using their intellect, without resorting to supernatural forces. With the decline of the ancient world, this knowledge threatens to disappear. But Arab scholars translate, preserve, and expand it in cities such as Baghdad. Harald Lesch follows the “paths of knowledge” from Miletus to Cairo and explores the question of whether and how faith and science can coexist.
