The path of history is paved with countless dark chapters. Often it is about power struggles and intrigues, which often culminate in unbelievable homicides. The reasons for this are as varied as our ranking: Be it the mistaken belief of witch-burnings or the pride of a pharaoh. Allegedly, Catherine the Great had her own husband killed in order to seize the Russian crown, whereas the reasons for the murder series Jack the Ripper remain a mystery to this day. Murder can strike anyone, it seems. We venture on a search for clues and try to shed light on these dark cases.
