For centuries, Europe was the world’s largest battlefield. After the World War II, peace finally seemed to prevail – but the war in Ukraine put an end to this phase. When did the spiral of violence begin – and how can it be stopped? Are people more warlike or peaceful by nature? Mirko Drotschmann’s search for peace takes us from the peace altar of Augustus in Rome to the UN General Assembly in New York, from the Peace Hall in Münster to the Nobel Peace Center in Oslo. He shows that although violence is partly in the human genes, it is in our own hands to shape a peaceful future.
