After World War One, the winners and losers fail to come to their senses. On the left and the right, Communists and Fascists fight to win over the hearts and the minds of the Europeans. A “new human being” is needed, but what should he look like? How should he be? The first test of strength is fought in Spain, in the Spanish Civil War. This leads to a closer alliance between European Fascists – and ends in all-out war. Europe is in ruins.
